Curious how Southern Tier Wireless keeps you connected?
In this quick video, we walk you through how our wireless internet works — from the signal towers we use, to how it reaches your home, RV, or business.
Whether you’re in a rural area, a seasonal campground, or just looking for an affordable alternative to traditional internet, we’ll show you exactly what to expect.
It’s simple. It’s fast. And it’s made for your lifestyle.
We’ve partnered with a third-party fiber provider to create a streamlined hybrid network. This allows us to expand into new areas.
Here’s how it works:
The fiber company installs a dedicated fiber drop at a location mutually agreed upon by the landowner and our team. From that drop point, we broadcast a high-speed signal to the surrounding area using our wireless technology.
This setup allows us to install and service customers within range of the broadcast signal—quickly and efficiently.
Southern Tier Wireless (STW) is a locally owned internet provider built to serve the unique needs of rural communities in Western New York.
Founded in 2006 by Wayne Hawley, STW began by bringing affordable, high-speed internet to areas around Rushford Lake that had been overlooked by big carriers. Working closely with local development groups and Southern Tier West Regional Planning, STW created a unique hybrid network using wireless and copper technology — making reliable internet more accessible and affordable in remote areas.
Today, STW serves Allegany, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, Livingston, and Steuben counties, staying true to Wayne’s original mission:
Customizable internet, fair prices, and top-notch service for the people who live and work here.
