Wayne Hawley started Southern Tier Wireless in 2006 resulting from the limited internet options available in underserved areas such as his home town of Rushford. It began with a small computer repair shop that expanded into a game room where people could set up LAN parties to play the newest multiplayer computer games. In supplying his own business with high-speed internet, the next natural step was to expand the service to friends and neighbors could enjoy the same service inside the comfort of their homes.

STW understands the issues faced by residents and businesses that have limited options like satellite, DSL, and cellular internet because these services have data limits, high latency, high install fees, and limited abilities to increase internet speeds. Satellite, DLS, and cellular internet compete very poorly when stacked up next to the service that STW currently provides to its customers.

Our service has absolutely no data limits, cable-like latency, reasonable installation fees, and the technology we use is easily adjustable to provide higher speeds. STW has been providing broadband internet, to rural areas of Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Wyoming Counties, via fixed terrestrial wireless technology for more than ten years and is looking to continue the growth further.
