Southern Tier Wireless, Inc. (STW) is a privately owned and locally operated wireless internet service provider created to fit the custom needs of the people and businesses in rural Western New York.

In 2006, Wayne Hawley, owner of STW, developed affordable high-speed internet access around Rushford Lake and surrounding rural communities due to being either underserved or missed entirely by existing internet carriers. Southern Tier Wireless saw a need and immediately began working with local development groups. Collaborating with Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development of Cattaraugus County, we formulated a plan to fix the widespread lack of internet access. STW and Southern Tier West devised a hybrid network combining domestic wireless concepts and copper infrastructure. This groundbreaking design allowed them to quickly move large amounts of customizable internet access to rural areas, providing high reliability at low cost.

Today, Southern Tier Wireless, Inc. is present in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, Livingston, and Steuben counties. Always keeping with Wayne’s mission in mind, Southern Tier Wireless has expanded year after year, providing the folks out here with customizable high-speed internet with honest prices and outstanding customer service.
